Back in 2019, Facebook released Facebook Viewpoints. Facebook Viewpoints is a market research app that give users various rewards for completing tasks, conducting research and for doing surveys. Facebook proclaims that one of the primary reasons why they created Viewpoints was to get a better understanding of the people that use their products. They also proclaimed that they intend on using the data that Viewpoints aggregates to improve their products and services such as WhatsApp, Portal, Oculus and Portal. As such, Viewpoints give users an opportunity to provide feedback, which can prove to be highly beneficial to the larger community.

Features And Benefits
The app has been getting fairly good ratings within the Google Play and iOS app store. Back when the app was initially introduced, the only way a user could sign up was if they already had a Facebook account. Today, users can signup by using their phone number or email. But, only individuals who live within the United States can download the app and users need to be at least 18 years old in order for them to participate. If you haven't signed up for a PayPal account, now's your chance. You'll need one in order for you to get paid. Additionally, it's also worth noting that you can opt out of the program at any time, in the event that you don't wish to use it any more.
When it comes to features, the app provides you with a multitude of different programs which are essentially tasks, product reviews and surveys which reward various points upon completion. Once a user establishes their accounts, they're given an option of being able to join various programs depending on their age and location. Before a user joins a program, the app provides extensive information on how the data will be used and collected, as well as the specifics on the amount of points a user will earn by completing the program. Users earn points for every survey, task or product review that they complete. 200 points equates to $1. So for instance, the very first survey that all users must complete is called the Well-Being survey. This survey takes approximately 16 minutes to complete and give users a nice bonus of 1000 points. Users can then choose to let their points accumulate until they can acquire a large reward or they can cash out with as little as 1000 points, which equates to $5.
Once a user cashes out, it takes approximately 7 to 19 days for the payment to hit their PayPal account. In the event that users encounter an issue with receiving payment, they can contact Facebook Viewpoints' Payment Support Center or PayPal. In most cases, as long as your PayPal account is fully verified you shouldn't encounter any issues. Individuals who earn more than $600 in one year, will receive a 1099 form from Facebook and will need to report their earnings to the IRS.
Pros
- Welcome Bonus - As mentioned, your earning potential is based on your demographics and location. But, all newly registered users get the opportunity to immediately earn 1000 points ($5) upon completing the Well-Being survey.
- User Friendly - Viewpoints' user interface is simple and easy to navigate. Users also have the option of being able to pause each program so that they can complete it at a later time. Viewpoints is also accessible through multiple devices such as PC, tablet and smartphones.
Cons
- Limited Amount Of Opportunities - While Viewpoints provide fair compensation for completing surveys, product reviews and tasks, opportunities are far in between. It's fairly common for users to go days or weeks without being able to complete a task.
- History Of Controversy- Facebook released Viewpoints within a few months of shutting down their controversial app called Study. Study was also a market research app that used a special software certificate from Apple to install software on the devices of teenagers to get information that it wouldn't have been able to get otherwise, by using it's primary Facebook app. Several security experts have also highlighted the fact that Facebook has been known to handle their users' data poorly. This is what ultimately lead to the closure of Study. As such, some users may balk at the idea of giving Facebook even more data, despite its promises.
Is It Worth Your Time?
Viewpoints is a fair app that provides fair compensation for the amount of time that you take to complete a given opportunity. However, your earning potential is directly related to your location and demographics. Therefore, while some users may get a consistent flow of opportunities, other users may not be as fortunate. Users who are especially concerned about the fact that social networks tend to aggregate an extensive amount of information, may not feel comfortable about the idea of participating in something like Viewpoints. However, if you'd like to earn some spare change in your free time and love Facebook in general, Viewpoints gives you the opportunity to earn cash by giving your opinion about people, places and things that you interact with on a daily basis.
